Totally awesome series,though I'm mostly talking about FMA: Brotherhood. The "original" FMA was not bad and you can watch it just so you can see what is the fuzz that FMA makes all about. But it still won't be enough and you won't understand the greatness of the show,unless you watch Brotherhood
Excellent series overall,with a great storyline and even more great,interesting and intriguing characters. An all-time classic in my opinion. Definitely a must-watch.

^ Pretty much this. FMA was quite good and I enjoyed it but Brotherhood was simply fantastic, definitely one of my favorite anime if not the favorite.
