Legendary Pokémon

Full Version: The purpose of "Newsroom".

We often get asked about how one joins the editorial board of the main site, a path that can also lead to being a moderator or even a co-administrator some day.

This is your chance to shine the Red Gyarados way: prove your ethos*, show us your dedication, display your alertness or reveal your journalist talent to us all.

So, if you want to get involved in the works of a fansite and gain access to our mysterious "Secret Labs" subforum, go ahead and collect newsworthy facts and hearsays and notify us about stuff that should go in the main page, while also providing the latest news to your fellow forum members. Opinion articles or original research are also welcome.

We may also consider video guides via YouTube (but NOT videos about news/rumours), try us!

You will be given full credit (inc. twitter mention if applicable) in case we select your report or article!

* Do not prove your insanity instead in case your article is not selected or disapproved. Really, don't.
Mini Manual of Style

If you want us to feature your exact words in your main site (which would be a timesaver for us too) then you should at least follow these simple guidelines:
  • Proper English: your text should be written in plain English, either British or American, follow proper syntax, spelling and punctuation.
  • Appropriate tone: try to keep your writing style to a journalist's tone. Own commentary is allowed but should be kept to a minimal.
  • Minimal imagery: only include essential related imagery. Check the past articles for examples on this.
  • Suitable use of bbcode: Never use font or size tags, avoid align tags, keep bold and italics to a minimum. Company / Pokemon / Character names should be either italicized or presented as links. Links themselves should flow inside the text and be descriptive.
  • No Plagiarism: Never copy / paste text from other sites without, at the very least, rewording it. If something should ever be stated verbatim (e.g. a press release or a quote), you should use the quote tag.
  • Attribution: Always include your exact sources unless it's original research.

Last but not least, you should use the appropriate thread prefixes if applicable: Rumour, Opinion, Feature, Ελληνικά (Greek only) or Breaking when there is constant flow of news (e.g. E3, live announcements).

Fellow forum members are highly encouraged to rate ([Image: star.gif]) each thread accordingly. Ratings are anonymous of course.

In case you'd like your thread mirrored in another subforum (e.g. an event announcement in the appropriate game area) then kindly ask a moderator to copy it leaving a redirection.
