Farming items is an old tech. Squads consisting of 1 Hunter (ability= CompoundEyes) and 5 Thieves ( pokemon that know the item stealing move thief) with one of the thieves being a Checker (Ability=Frisk). It's the legal way of getting a bunch of a specific type of item without using a device such as an AR or equivelent.
The basic of finding items is knowing what pokemon holds such items, such as Chansey holding either Oval Stone or Lucky Eggs. Then repeatedly running into the said pokemon and swiping the item.
Place your pokemon with CompoundEyes Ability up front to increase the likelihood of a pokemon holding an item, then Frisk the pokemon, and then use the thief tech. It takes a lot of time because of running into other pokemon. Special note have a pokemon with the false swipe tech. because of the chance of finding a Shiny pokemon is always at hand and don't forget to remove the items from pokemon, because in order to steal the item you can't hold an item.
