For me...

Kanto: Venusaur
Johto: Feraligtr
Hoenn: Sceptile
Sinnoh: Empoleon
Unova: Samurott
Kalos: Delphox

Notice how almost every generation my fave is the one that's widely considered to be the LEAST useful of the three?

My overall favorite would be Sceptile, especially in ORAS. Did you know the reason Mega Sceptile's ability is Lightning Rod is because of his tree-like tail, and apparently the best way to protect trees from lightning strikes (and thus help prevent forest fires which are often started by lightning) is to put special lightning rods on top of the tallest ones to ground out the strikes?

Dang, I like Grass-types. I hadn't quite realized how much up until now. Despite that, my absolute favorite is the only one of the six who is not a Grass-type. Interesting.

Feraligatr is not really the least useful tho. lol

Anyway:
For me it's more like:
Gen1: Blastoise
Gen2: Feraligatr
Gen3: Tough choice... either Sceptile or Swampert. I think I'll say Sceptile tho.
Gen4: Empoleon. My first ever starter.
Gen5: Serperior
Gen6: Greninja

As for my overall favourite, I'd either say Empoleon or Blastoise (my 1st ever battle ready Mega Evolution)

Gen1: Charmander
Gen2: Cyndaquil
Gen3: Torchic
Gen4: Chimchar (but I also like Turtwig and Piplup)
Gen5: NOTHING, just ban this Gen already.
Gen6: Fennekin
Gen7: Check the spoilers

Meganium is my all time favorite starter. Delphox and Empoleon are a close second and third though.
