Legendary Pokémon

I just got a pokemon from a friend of mine and it just keeps not obeying my orders in battle.What should i do to get it to obbey my orders?Would winning badges help?

You need to defeat more gym leaders.

So if i have all 8 badges no pokemon will disobbey me right?

Ok no need to answer i found out myself

I had 4 badges in diamond but i did a new game and now I have 2 badges using my previous diamond pokemon and all of them dissobey except Monferno. At least when I earn the 4rth badge i won't have problem. Btw is there any way to make them obey w/o having the badge needed?
