Something like that happened to me.
i was at the last trainer unlit the battle tower brain and they had a chancy w/ minimize, softboiled, seismic toss, and shadow ball. my team is all special sweepers, so it would take for ever to do much damage. i sqitched to latios so i could luster purge its sp. def down, but i keep missing b/c of minimize! then it shadow balled latios to death, same for starmie, and sceptile died after 3 seismic tosses. sceptile did manage to get chancey into red, b/c crunch seemed to hit a lot and almost always lowered sp. def, but it just soft boiled. i turned it off and stopped playing for a week...

I remember having all the silver symbols but I didn't continue because I didn't want to loose by their stupid Pokemon!
my first try was the battle pike leader... i had claydol (cosmic pwer/psychic/earthquake/explosion and leftovers) exploud (shock wave /rest /dynamic punch / hyper sound i dont remeber it name.. )
and blazicken (mirror move/sky uppercut /blaze kick /fire blast)

seviper used poison tail(or smthg like that )

shuckle used protect

then he started toxic snad storm many protects and rests
iwas very annoyed...
then i though that i could use the same to reach his pp out so i started rest all time...
shuckle started strugle
then he was 2 hits
4th round exploud (with a few pp and half hp) vs milotic
exploud uesd dynamic punch
milotic used surf k.o.
then claydol vs milotic
claydol used explosion
he died but i lost as well :S
the next try i tried the same but i kept a pokemon (so that i will be able to use explosion)
but seviper kicked my #$%^&^%$#%^&*U&^%$ arrgg then i realised that i cant win in there and never gone there agian (until i get some uber pokemon) :SSSSSSSSSS

i was afraid man .. 1 surf ko my exp loud what would happen if he used any water type move vs my claydol.... and my claydol has a lot sp def but i knew that he whould died after 3 surfs for sure and i knew hat miloticc can learn recover/rest and basicaly i was very anoyed by shuckle so i wanted to finish the battle.....
Υοu could place your Claydol first in your team for using your explosion. But in a battle with Milotic, you should do up to 6 cosmic powers and then use your psychic. What's the meaning of explosion with your last pokemon. You should knew the rules
can claydol afford 6 tuns with cosmic power vs a milotic of one of battle frontier brains??? and it was my first battle vs a brain and i didnt knew about draws....
I only have 5 symbols out of 7. No gold symbol, and the guy that runs the battle palace is so difficult, it took me some days to beat him.

I beat Tucker easily thanks to my Metagross but I assure you to climb 10 times the championship tree it was very hard

Look,if your pokemon wasn's speedy at all,in comparison with Lapras,Lapras could attack it first easily.But,if it wasn't,there is a possibility that it held an item,quick claw or something.Also,Lapras CAN learn Horn drill,it's an egg move so,it's not impossible to attack you with that.
wat i dont get is, the opponent uses explosion, and i lose. i use explosion, i lose WHY!?!?!??!??!?!!?
