No i didnt have platinum at the time (how i got geodude). I was just trying to complete pokedex and raising lvls. Got send them in to get mystery events uploaded.
Oh and i always keep my swiper with me.
The only time in my life that I met a Shiny Pokemon was on Pokemon Gold when I didn't knew about Shiny Pokemon and how much rare they are. It was a Shiny version of Zubat (this little @#$%^&* I hate so much) and my reaction was "Wow! A glittering Zubat! That's unusual.". And even if I already got a Zubat I tried to catch it but I accidentally killed it. "Nah! Big deal. I will meet it again anyway.". How wrong I was. Not that I cared too much since even today I don't give a damn about Shiny Pokemon. OK, I wouldn't mind having some of them which they look very nice on their Shiny version but not to the point to drive myself into a hunting hell. Thanks godness for pkm files.
Most of them look like *****. The colours are ugly and don't fit the Pokemon, except Rayquaza, Altaria and some of the starters. Also, I don't think it's a good idea discussing the .pkm thing. ;p
Even if you have .pkm, it's not the same as finding/hatching it on your own. =)
I remember when I hatched my shiny Roselia, without RNG; I wasn't aware of that back yet. I didn't see it was a shiny, because I was in a hurry to check the stats. And when I went into the Pokemon menu and saw it... I was like KABOOM! WTF!
I had also met a shiny Altaria in Emerald, but I didn't have Pokeballs so I killed it thinking I will meet it again... xD
Apart from those, I've also caught Graveller, Bagon and Bellsprout.

RNGing a shiny Pokemon is very different from finding one randomly even without being very picky. In fact that is the true meaning of a shiny Pokemon. I RNG for the colour (like a Blue Nidoking) but I consider my rash, shiny Starly more valuable.
I tried so hard for a shiny Snivy on my Black 2. Using the Masuda method, I hatched over 1000 eggs and still didn't get one.
I've never hatched a shiny.
The first Shiny I ever encountered was a Tentacool. The second was a male Nidoran in the Safari Zone in Leafgreen. I caught both but lost them when my game froze while saving and deleted my save file.

Crobat (random) I got Crobat and Weavile within a few minutes of each other at Mount
