I just pick pokemon I like that I know are pretty good. I generally check with my older brother to make sure that the pokemon is actually worth using. From my experience farfetched isnt worth the effort it takes to get it. It learns swords dance but thats about it.
There is no need to make fun of him. He has chosen a certain and respectable way to play. By entering the Forum he will obviously hear and learn new things.
Genosect the giant robot Insect seems pretty good. It isn't just a more powerful Poryzon IMO.
So, there we go:
Genosect @ Aqua Cassette
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 SAtk / 184 SDef / 72 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Flamethrower/Energy Ball
- Techno Buster
- Thunderbolt
So, cause its giant canon it can learn a variation of elemental special attacks, which it would help it to beat many Pokemon.
Earlier, someone mentioned Volcarona (Ulgamoth) being destroyed by Stealth Rocks. Unfortunately, this is a little true, but if I may say, with stealth rock no longer being a TM, it shouldn't be as widely used. Plus, since many of the pre-fifth generation Pokemon kinda got deprecated by the likes of Excadril and Co., pokemon from DPPt that learned the move by TM may not even be widely used themselves... Really, the only pokemon that'll be using SR is Ferrothorn, maybe Forretress and, if they feel the need to have it, Mamoswine and Tytanitar.
Still, that last bunch of pokemon... They are overused, so rapid spin support is a necessity with Volcarona. If it CAN safely get it, however, and manages to get a Butterfly Dance, then it will definitely do some pain. Err, or, a LOT of pain.
One pokemon I think could be a little bit of a nuisance is Accelgor. It WOULD have greater sweeping potential if all the 5th generation pokemon weren't so powerful, but one thing it CAN do is bring into battle a very nasty 427 speed. With that, it could be a little gimmicky and use Guard Swap, trading off its terrible defenses for something that's likely to be better than 40/60. Priority will hurt it some, but if survives well, it can force a switch with that.
Beheeyem deserves a little respect, in my opinion. Well, after it gets its DW ability. Now, it's OK, but nothing special. But after it gets Analyze, it could start to have a little fun. It get's delicious access to Thunderbolt and Shadowball, plus Nasty Plot. It's defenses are very workable, and it also has Recover, so it may be able to alleviate some of the pressure from bulky waters and other ghost type pokemon not including Chadelure.
Eelektross has no weaknesses and a respectable defensive side with 85/80/80, not to mention a nice 115 Attack and cool 105 Sp. Attack. It's terribly slow, ironic for an electric type (then again, so is Magnezone), but it doesn't necessarily need speed. A large movepool helps too, but unfortunately, it's best physical STAB, Wild Charge, has recoil.
Archeops looked so desirable until I looked at its ability... Bullet Punch will make it suffer, as will Ice Shard, along with pokemon that are faster than it like Jolteon. But if the opposing team lacks both of those moves, then Archeops can wreak havoc. An attacking spread of 140/112/110 is utterly ferocious, and it's movepool is exceptionally large, including the notorious, with STAB, Head Smash. Reminds me of Volcarona, in that if you don't take it down fast, you WILL be sorry.
A last pokemon, that's a personal favorite, is Lilligant. If one was to look at it's stats before anything else, it looks like a Roserade that was having a bad day. But the one thing it has that most things don't is Butterfly Dance. Being a grass type, it suffers from 2 extraordinarily common weaknesses. But if there's a will, there's a way, and with a Butterfly Dance up, it can rip through pokemon with a STAB Petal Dance or, for less damagem Energy Ball. Unfortunately, it is like most grass type pokemon in that it learns nearly only grass type attacks. There's hidden power, of course, and if you're feeling adventurous, then go for a Sleep Powder/ Dream Eater combo. But... yeah. Luckily, it isn't liable to even be in the minuscule BL tier, so in UU, it will shine very nicely.
