Here's why it must be Taylor-Made:
A) Only the strongest Steel types have a chance at surviving an Outrage. And even then, they might be 2KOed
B) Steel is weak to Ground, which is Garchomp's EQ. With that, only Bronzong and Skarmory are left un-hit.
C) Now for these Levitators, Garchomp carries his only unSTABed move, Fire Fang, which happens to be his weakest.

Basically, you need a Steel type to resist Outrage (and a way to boost defense and recover,) the same Steel type to be able to take Immune / Neutral Damage from Earthquake, and resist Fire Fang. It has to meet all of these conditions at almost the same time to counter Garchomp. Switching in brings about another problem. Fire Fang, EQ, or Outrage? You would have to bait one of these moves, hope the opponent does not "read" the idea, and hope the opponent did not make a mistake selecting his moves.

The only two reasons why I would carry such an odd wall would be to lead / wall on a Rain Dance Team or to counter Garchomp. I do not think too many people would like to carry such an odd wall around, taking up a team slot to counter an Uber. It is just absolutely and thoroughly disastrous.
just use an ice move... X4 damage
It won't OHKO if it has a Yache Berry. And oh yeah, it just killed you. sorry!

(no intended offense to anyone)
AND I KNOW HOW TO COUNTER GARCHOMP!!!!!

cloyster
adamant nature
skill link ability
EVs:252 atk/252 def
moves:
icicle spear
anything
anything
anything

cloyster's icicle spear plus it's skill link nature maybe enough to break garchomp's substitute and activate yache berry's effect.then, after some hits of icicle spear, garchomp is defeated!Big Grin
In theory, ok. But what are the chances your Cloyster will survive 2 Swords Dance boosted hits? Slim to none. You can switch in on the turn Garchomp goes for SD though, if you are good at predicting that is. That way, you do have some chances which can still be ruined by a lucky Sand Veil activation. But anyway, say you take it out. What else will a Cloyster with Icicle Spear do? Absolutely nothing. You're stuck with a useless Pokémon after that for the rest of the battle. That's why I don't like building Pokémon to counter a specific threat. Ok, Garchomp may be a terror, but it ain't unbeatable.

Also, a fact that some people forget. Once a Garchomp user sees a Pokémon it can't beat for sure (like Aluado's Rhyperior), they tend to switch Garchomp out, rather than losing their sweeper to an Outrage/Icicle Spear/whatever else.
there is another way... use another garchomp... anyone think of that?
*the garchomp your using is identicle to the opposing garchomp*
I've already thought of that, yes. A Scarfchomp is always faster than the YacheChomp and OHKOs with Outrage. But would you ever switch it in when you know they can do the same with their Outrage? I wouldn't.
you have platinum
?
None of us do (unless they are Japanese or can read Japanese, which they might.) Some of us use a Battle simulator called Shoddy Battle, and their programmers updated it for the Platinum age just a few days after it came out it Japan.

but what is that shoddy battle??????
Shoddy battle is a program simular with Netballte and stuff... You could just google it, and anyway, what does this have to do with countering an uber garchomp? >_>

slim pickings

so what happens when he just switches out and ur stuck with outrage? idiot
outrage is a pritty gd move but its op with stab
I think that a good Garchomp Counter is this!

Gengar
Timid@Life orb
EP's
Sp.Atk 255, Spd 255

Attacks

Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Anything
Anything

Because a Timid nature Gengar surely has more speed than Garchomp at the beggining it will do Hypnosis
and then Shadow Ball , Shadow Ball's power is 80X1,5X1,3=156. Then Knowing that Gengar's Sp.Attack is 130 and Garchomp's Sp.Def 85 it is sure that Gengar will 2HKO Garchomp while sleeping!
Hypnosis has an accuracy of 60%, which is further lowered by Sand Veil. I wouldn't like to depend on such a strategy to save me. Plus, I wouldn't dare switching in a Gengar unless I'm absolutely sure an EQ is coming.
