- The venomous moth is here to infest everyone with its powdery attacks! Or not… Venomoth’s highest stats are Special Attack and Speed but these are simply average, not extremely elevated. Its low Defenses and not particularly high Hit Points tend to lead trainers to build this Pokémon mainly for a Special Sweeper and most particularly a Sunnybeamer. Its ability, Shield Dust, does not help it too much since one attack could knock it out. When Butterfree is not the ideal choice for you and you prefer speedier Pokémon, Venomoth is your choice!
- Strategy against Venomoth
- As I said above, Venomoth has low Defenses so an attack from a speedier Sweeper, either a Special or Physical one could knock it out easily. Psychic, Earthquake, Flamethrower or Rock Slide, are moves that are often seen in movesets and could end Venomoth’s majestic wing-flapping!

- The obvious choice is the above; Sunny Day and start blasting the opponent with Solarbeam or the empowered Hidden Power Fire! Psychic is there for power when the two other moves do not seem to be efficient against the opponent. Be warned and switch when a Fire type appears on the field since with a STAB Flamethrower, Venomoth will probably blow up into flames. Eventhough this set does not take advantage of Venomoth’s STAB, this is the only possible and viable set.

Training Grounds
This section is to advise you on the areas in which you can train for the acquisition of the Effort Points presented above. It is recommended you use 10 vitamins on the stat you desire to raise. Do not use vitamins on stats that require less than 100 Effort Points. Equip the Macho Brace on your Pokémon to speed up the process even more.

Many Bug-type Pokémon learn Psychic, Poison and Grass moves, which fall under the Smart contest type. By using Silver Wind followed by Secret Power will up your condition and give you extra Smart points. One of the scrambling moves, Psybeam/Supersonic/Gust might place your in the first place in order to apply with Swift/Swagger/Aerial Ace which eventhough they do not fall under the smart category, will boost your total of Appeal Points.
An alternate moveset would be one suited for the Cool contest, using both Swift and Aerial Ace, the one after the other and simply drown in Appeal Points!
