by Eraleas

General info

Type
Poison/Flying
Ability
Inner Focus (This Pokémon will not flinch.)
Base Stats
  • HP: 85
  • Attack: 90
  • Defense: 80
  • Special Attack: 70
  • Special Defense: 80
  • Speed: 130
Description

Stealthy and deadly, the mysterious Crobat lurks and attacks from above. Only obtained by those trainers who befriend their Golbat, Crobat possesses a vast artillery in order to defeat its opponents. With a very high Speed Stat as well as an average Attack and HP base stat, this Pokémon can be very versatile and prove worthy in many cases, despite the fact of Zubat being quite common around.

Role #1: Physical Sweeper

Item Held
Choice Band (Increases move’s power but only the selected move can be used until switched)
Nature
Jolly (+Speed –Special Attack)/Adamant (+Attack –Special Attack)
Effort Points
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
Moveset
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Shadow Ball
  • Aerial Ace
  • Hidden Power Ground/Steel Wing
Strategy

Focus on Speed and Attack and sweep your way to victory. Sludge Bomb is a great move for Crobat (the strongest Poison type move in fact) since, not only it takes advantage of STAB, but also has the chance of poisoning the opponent. Aerial Ace is totally accurate as well as STAB. Shadow Ball is there for Pokémon resistant to Poison (especially for Gengar), while Steel Wing or Hidden Power Ground to counter Rock (and Rock/Ground) types. Choice Band is the ideal item which however should be used with care.

Role #2: Annoyer

Item Held
Leftovers (Recovers a small amount of Hit Points at the end of each round)
Nature
Jolly (+Speed – Special Attack)
Effort Points
252 Speed, 129 HP, 129 Special Defense
Moveset
  • Toxic
  • Confuse Ray
  • Fly
  • Protect
Strategy

This is one very annoying Crobat! I personally find this very satisfying since my Crobat uses it. Make use of Confuse Ray and Toxic and then go on with Protect and Fly. These two will give you extra rounds to recover with Leftovers while your opponent will suffer from Toxic and Confuse Ray. If you can predict a switch, simply repeat the process. The only downside though, is that this set will be pretty much useless against Steel types, so be warned.

Role #3: Toxishuffler

Item Held
Leftovers (Recovers a small amount of Hit Points at the end of each round)
Nature
Jolly (+Speed – Special Attack)
Effort Points
252 HP 129 Defense, 129 Special Defense
Moveset
  • Toxic
  • Whirlwind
  • Confuse Ray
  • Sludge Bomb
Strategy

Very similar to the Annoyer set, the Toxishuffler simply will inflict everybody in the opponent’s party with Toxic, using whirlwind to swap Pokémon. Confuse Ray is to add on pain while Sludge Bomb is there for power, just in case you need a move to blast away your foe. Be wary though, since your opponent might come up with a Pokémon using Heal Bell or Haze.

Training Grounds

This section is to advise you on the areas in which you can train for the acquisition of the Effort Points presented above. It is recommended you use 10 vitamins on the stat you desire to raise. Do not use vitamins on stats that require less than 100 Effort Points. Equip the Macho Brace to your Pokemon to speed up the process even more.

Contests

Item Held
Green Scarf
Contest Moveset
Confuse Ray [Smart] or Supersonic [Smart]
Screech [Smart]
Aerial Ace [Cool]
Hidden Power [Smart]

This is practically a Smart Moveset for Crobat, despite Aerial Ace being a Cool move. Confuse Ray and Supersonic are identical in their effects during a Contest so choose whichever you feel like and use it right away. Depending the position you will be placed, appeal with Aerial Ace, Screech or Hidden Power. Hidden Power may be used every turn without bothering the judge or the audience.

More precisely

  • If you appeal 1st:
    • Round 1: Aerial Ace
    • Round 2: Confuse Ray
    • Round 3: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
    • Round 4: Confuse Ray
    • Round 5: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
  • If you appeal 2nd or 3rd:
    • Round 1: Confuse Ray
    • Round 2: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
    • Round 3: Confuse Ray
    • Round 4: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
    • Round 5: Confuse Ray/Hidden Power
  • If you appeal last:
    • Round 1: Screech
    • Round 2: Confuse Ray
    • Round 3: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
    • Round 4: Confuse Ray
    • Round 5: Aerial Ace (1st)/Screech (4th)/Hidden Power
