That´s why I always prefer to equal the defences
Hey, talking about defences... I found out that if your pokemon is gonna have tankish stats, try putting 252 EVs on HP and split the rest on Def/SDef. It works better than 252 EVs on both defences. But it depends on the pokemon, though (like, Forretress won´t ever have both defences equal...)

I suppose that a Dusknoir with equal defenses is even worse. It can get hit by both ends when with equal defenses and that's because its HP are low. I also tend to equal the defenses of tank-like Pokémon but only if they have high enough HP. For example, Vaporeon is a Pokémon that gets equal defenses effectively. Dusknoir needs to excel in one aspect otherwise it will be mediocre in both. Well, at least that's my opinion. For example, the EV spread I'd use on my Dusknoir would be 252 HP, about 180-200 in Def/Sp.Def depending on its role and the rest in Atk. Since it is going to Ice Punch/Thunderpunch/Pursuit/Shadow Sneak, it needs some Atk too.

i agree! dusknoir is verry awsome and worthi pokemon! they had lented me a dusknoir and I made it verry good!

Well, I wasn´t talking only about Dusknoir... I was talking about other pokemon that would be used only as tankers. To max the HP and equal the defences makes your pokemon less vulnerable, because it can handle both special and physical moves. But you´re free if you wanna make a pokemon resistant only to physical moves or only to special ones...

I would like a good moveset for Swampert, not only moveset but ev split, best held item... as well
As for the moveset I 've thought of this
-Avalanche
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-????????

I would prefer a support Swampert to an offensive one.
Swampert @ Leftovers
Impish, 252 HP, 200+ Def, rest in Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Avalanche
If you still want an offensive one:
Swampert @ Leftovers (Shell Bell if you can't use more than one Leftovers)
Careful, 252 HP, 100-120 Sp.Def, rest in Def.
- Curse
- Waterfall
- Avalanche
- Earthquake
Curse will raise your Attack anyway, you don't need any Attack EPs. Swampert must be bulky if it wants to do something.

Yeah, but protect provides some self healing with leftovers and can scout attacks from choice items users and to avoid getting Swampert hit with a random grass attack.
06-10-2007, 02:27 PM
you can also provide a self healing move in the case leftovers is been taken away by thief or a pokemon with pick up!
06-10-2007, 02:31 PM
a pokemon with the "Pick up" ability cant steal your item.

nevermind! you understand what i mean!

lol yeah, but not many ppl use thief, so ...

don't say that! i know much people who use surprise attacks after seeing your strategi! and be sure that if they know the week point of your strategy they will use it!
