Pronounced zī or ksī. Xheye is Alcovich's spelling of the pronunciation zī. That's how many of us Americans would spell it.
Only those of us who are interested in Greek know how to actually spell it.
To be honest with you, from the people I know, most of them are ignorant to what's happening in America, let alone the world. (myself included)(although lately I've taken more interest simply because of this forum)

common misconceptions eh? we have a lot of those here for english words as well. names , mainly. (Jim = Δημήτρης/Dimitri for example... not even close ) Anyway , to be honest i'm probably not as well informed as you are about what's going on either
