Not exactly. If you want your pokémon to learn a move (which is not learned by TMs) that it would learn by leveling up (ex: Hoppip's Leech Seed), the two pokémon you're breeding must to know that move. But if the move isn't naturally learned (like Mega Drain on Treecko, as you said), if only the male knows it, that's enough.
Could you understand? (I guess I was a little confused on writting...)

now i get it. i must have skipped over that while i was reading the nintendo power FR/LG guide.

what im startng to see alot is electric pokemon with iron tail. pokemon like manectric, pikachu and evos. and ampharos. is that good? i was thinking about teaching a manectric of mine it. im still seeking out the right nature, but im not sure...

Many people use Iron Tail to cover their weaknesses against rock/ground. But rock/ground pokémon has strong defences and electric pokémon usually have a low base atk, so Iron Tail doesn't help too much. (Manectric's base atk is 75. Too low for causing a good damage, even with an adamant nature.)
In which event you'll use it? Or you'll use it in a normal battle?

i sometimes make alternate teams that need to be trained, b/c im tired of just using lv100s. its just for normal. like a challenge.

Maybe an adamant/jolly nature with Charge, Thunder (only if you have Rain Dance in your team, of course.).

is the natures for iron tail? b/c lowering sp.A for attack with no attack moves is rather...(dont be harsh) umm, ODD.

I've chosen these natures 'cause it's not good for Manectric to have physical moves, since it's Atk is much lower than SAtk.
Do you remember what Blue said, sometime before? It's not good to use mixed sweepers (or a nature that lowers def/sdef) 'cause they lack in defence. You don't want to be killed before the foe, right?

well what about the legis? they usually have decent enough defences and attacks to be mixed. like mewtwo or rayquaza or ho-oh
19-08-2006, 05:31 AM
Yes, the legendaries may be good mixed sweepers, but they also can improve when used as a particular sweeper. And, except for them, some pokémon become far weaker when used as mixed sweepers (I know it... my Sceptile's offencive stats aren't that great and it's defence is horrible...)
19-08-2006, 05:35 AM
how can a sceptiles attacks be bad? thats like a blaziken with like a shuckles attack and sp.attack. sceptile would be usefull with an earthquake if its attack was good enough, right? like a surprise for fire and poison types.

I knew that, and I thought using a hasty Sceptile (-def, +spd) I could use him as a mixed sweeper... but look! His stats are: atk: 230; def: 129 (argh! too low!); satk 251, sdef 202, spd 343, hp 266.
He's not even a good sweeper! If he was modest, he could get 330 SAtk. And it's max atk (with adamant nature) is 295.
See now why I guess Sceptile should better be a special sweeper?

i never said he was a better p/sw, just like Faiq said charizard makes a better p/sw. and sheesh. look at that defence!!! mine has like 175 or some thing like that. mines speed isnt as high as yours b/c , as you know, i was introduced to effort points about 4 months ago. mine is naive 314 spe 255 sp.at 225 at 187 sp.d

Sorry for doing you wait so long... But don't you think that having 330 of SAtk makes Sceptile much more offencive than having 295 Atk and 300 SAtk (if you're lucky, of course)?
